Hi,
I have a strong feeling that while this message may not be for everybody, it just might be for you.
Â
In the picture below, I was 32 years old and broke. I had just had my baby girl a few months after quitting my job to chase my dream of being a globally acclaimed and recognized Business Strategist.
No one knew me.
I didn't know how to do any of the things I do so effortlessly today, like write books, create sold out online courses, electrify audiences with my live sessions, or build businesses.
I was writing my book on two paint buckets and using my wife's LaserJet printer to send out proposals to corporate clients, hoping they'd give me a chance.
One night, my wife, baby, and I slept in my car overnight, because the house was too hot and we didn't have enough money to buy fuel to power the generator, so we could use the air conditioner.
I had been married for over 2 years, and I felt like a failure.
That night, watching over my girls sleep in the backseat of my car, ...
This picture was taken 20âyears ago & brought back some nostalgia âŁ
So I thought Iâd write a letter #ToMyYoungerSelf .âŁ
Â
You were 21 with a lot of hope and one heck of a mischievous smile.âŁ
Little did you know that in 1 year, your life was gonna take a roller coaster ride of failure and disappointment that would ultimately wipe that smirk off your face.Â
Youâre gonna get an invitation to join a cult, sha give yourself brains and donât goâŁ
That decisionâs gonna lead you to @thelovefamily_official and youâre gonna make a lot of meaningful friendships that will last a lifetime and build your faith in God.âŁ
Trust me, youâre gonna need Him... sooner than you think and every day afterwards.âŁ
Donât worry about your Math department lecturers, theyâre a bunch of morons, especially Baba and your course advisor.âŁ
In hindsight, stay away from that chic in MathEco, donât say I didnât warn youâŁ
Now, you know how everyone pays attention when you speak cause they think youâre speaking pho...
I posted this on my social media a few days ago, but I figured I'd share it with you if you hadn't already seen it.
Here are a few ways you can reposition your marketing to premium customers
Never say cheap or affordable .. say itâs at a price within your reach
You donât sell fitness or weight loss, you sell a summer/beach body all year round
You donât sell shapewear, you amplify womenâs curves and conceal their contours
You donât sell wedding dresses, you make one woman the center of attention & the most talked about person at an event
You donât sell furniture, you sell conversation starters
You donât sell hair, you sell ... you sell head-turning hairÂ
I hope you get the driftÂ
Now it's your turn, let me know what you sell
Today, I wanna talk about failure and how you can deal with itÂ
In 2015, my bro Paul Foh had an idea for both of us to collaborate & teach Thought Leaders how to sell out their events, since we both were always selling out our events
So we designed the flyer & began promoting the event. It was just N10kÂ
We got lots of responses, with people asking if they could pay at the venue
We paid for materials, food and the works for at least 50 people
Do you know how many people attended this mega event? Remember that Paul and I are a big deal
Iâll tell you
Zero
Not a soul. Whatâs the name of our event again?
It was like all the Thought Leaders created a WhatsApp group and agreed: âwe wonât attend Steve & Paulâs eventâ #badbellepeople đ¤Ł
For a seminar called âhow to fill out your seminar seats and make moneyâ, we couldnât even fill one seat
Ironic right? Na so life be
It hurt like hell & we felt like idiots, but we knew that if we ASSOCIATED A NEGATIVE RESPONSE TO OUR FAILURE, it would stick and...
Over the weekend, I had the privilege to sit with my mentor, Fela Durotoye as he shared his heart with me, my brothers; Jimi Tewe, Bankole Williams and several hundred-odd people.
Looking around the room, I couldn't help but notice that while you may have knowledge, skill or ability, you really won't go far without having the right association.
So here's my question?
Who's in your corner? Who's your squad? Here are "awon goons mi" and a few others not in this picture
We're almost at the final stretch of the year and if you can't get anything right (which you better), at least make sure you've got the right people in your corner.
Cause you know what they say, "(s)he who walks with the wise, will also be wise and the companion of morons will be destroyed.
Your squad is a picture of your future. It's folk that have got your back and are willing to ride with you and push the best out of you, even when you're comfortable with mediocrity
I mean, I admire Paul Foh's hustle and grind ...
This month I was featured in Forbes Africa sharing a bit of my backstory.Â
It was pretty raw and the interviewer, Peace Hyde is absolutely amazing, she got me to say stuff that I didn't remember I'd blocked out.
I got kicked out of school in 2004 and was an office assistant till July 2006, so in 13 years, God has truly brought me a long way from being a 2 Time College Dropout and it really is quite humbling.
I know I'm not in Forbes because of my money (it's still stacking up), but by the Grace of God whose, favour has given me some level of positive influence to build a great name.
This is usually where I should insert some âdeep quoteâ but this time, I'm tongue tied and got nothing.Â
All I can say is if you donât quit on your journey to success, someday, even your failures will inspire others to succeedÂ

HiÂ
As you know, I've been on holiday with my family.
And to be honest, we were having a pretty good time, until my daughter got sick.
At first, we shrugged it off as the stress from the trip, or probably her body just adjusting to a change in environment.
But by the 3rd day, it got worse.
She lost her appetite, energy and had a burning fever, which refused to break.
Having been familiar with these symptoms, I knew it was malaria.
But we had a problem, Â we didn't have any malaria medicine on us (I know, I know, I should've brought some) and worse still, malaria DOES NOT EXIST in England.
I mean, you can't walk into a pharmacy to buy malaria drugs.
So here I was, with a sick child and in a country that had no malaria medicine.
I've entered one chance,
As my daughter's health deteriorated, I had no choice but to go to the nearest hospital, where we were rushed into Emergency Services.
Long story short, we spent the night at the hospital while the doctors started their tests, ...
Some weeks ago, I was preparing to run a coaching session with a particular client in the Oil & Gas industry and in developing my content, I stumbled on a picture that captured the essence of what I want to share today).
Looking at this picture, it seems pretty obvious; a guy doing his best to get away from the cops.
Heâs determined to get away, but they look pretty determined to catch him.
But hereâs the question.
Who has the greater compelling reason for running?
Itâs like the age old question; which came first? The chicken or the egg?
Who has the more compelling reason to run?
Is it the cops, determined to catch this perpetrator and finally put him behind bars where he belongs?Â
Or is it the felon, the underdog (no pun intended) who knows that if he gets caught, heâs looking at a 3 to 5 stay in a maximum security penitentiary, rent free?
Whoâs got the greater compelling reason?
To capture or to escape?
Both folks are running, but for different reasons.
I donât know wha...
As a Business Coach, one of the constant complaints I get from entrepreneurs is that "the market is saturated"
I always respond by saying "it depends on where you are positioned"
If your business is positioned at the bottom of the food chain, then, you're gonna be at the mercy of the market. .
You can choose to be the "gbogbo ero" (water) brand or the alternative (pepsi) or the premium brand (coke) .
It's all a matter of positioning
A bottle of Coke in traffic is N100
A bottle of Coke in Eko Hotel is N1000
Same bottle. Different customers.
The guy selling coke in traffic will have to sell 10 bottles to make the value of 1 bottle in Eko Hotel.
Why?
How do Eko Hotel get people to pay N1000 for a bottle of Coke (which is probably a crate of coke outside)?
They understand their customers DNA .

And you need to do the same. .

Allow me to explain, when last did you buy a phone for its ability to make calls?
Sounds like a dumb question, right? đ
The phone company doesn't sell phones, they sell your desire for filters that make you look hotter on Instagram and Snapchat.
They sell your desire for prestige. .đ
So when you see a phone with 400 mega pixels (you hear it makes me look better), or can be used underwater (bad guy) it fuels your desire to be noticed, and ultimately (its a small price to pay for to be noticed) you buy the phone and they get your money.
You don't buy a Range Rover to move from one point to another!
You buy the Rover because it's either taller than most cars or faster (Bentley) than others.
You buy it because it gets you preferred parking by security guards, gets you noticed by clients, strangers and envied by your friends.#Statusđ
